Big on Meta, invisible on Google
REHAB. Your Hair already had a following on Meta, built through influencer work. Google was a different story. Previous Shopping campaigns hadn't stuck, there were no ROAS targets or spend benchmarks, brand and generic traffic were mixed together, and on many products they were up against established retailers.
Bottom of funnel first, then expand
We set the targets, built a simple four-campaign base, then used the brand's Meta creative to push into colder traffic.
Breakeven targets
Breakeven CPA and ROAS calculated from the financials, with a custom dashboard and full checkout funnel tracking.
Four tiers, all bottom of funnel
Generic Search, Generic PMax, Generic Shopping and Brand Shopping. Klaviyo and GA4 purchaser exclusions so spend went to new customers.
Borrowing from Meta
Existing influencer video and statics from Meta reused on Google, plus monthly promotions pushed to cold campaigns to lower new customer CPA.
High, low and zombie labels
Custom labels by product performance and deep research into the attributes people search for, all managed in DataFeedWatch.
£50k a month from a standing start
The account reached £50k a month and £200k+ in total revenue. Blended ROAS sits at 2.7x. Generic (non-brand) ROAS is 1.8x, and that is where the new customers come from.
What drove the improvement
Targets and tracking
- Keyword, competitor and cost research.
- Breakeven CPA and ROAS covering brand and performance campaigns.
- Checkout funnel tracking to find where buyers dropped off.
Shopping and one PMax
- Started with a single Shopping and PMax setup to gather data before splitting by label.
- PMax built with asset groups per product category, set to a slightly higher ROAS target so Shopping won the most impressions.
- PMax used to find new search terms and for some Display and YouTube reach, without competing against generic search.
Search from the bottom up
- Started with buyer terms like 'hair oil'.
- Expanded into problem and solution terms like 'how to fix dry hair'.
- Built landing pages for colder traffic: problem/solution, listicles and influencer-led pages.
